Who uses Night, Night Hero
The Service is intended for parents and guardians (18+). Children do not create accounts, sign in, receive emails, or interact with the Service directly. A parent provides limited information about their child so we can generate a personalized bedtime story and email it to the parent.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address, password (hashed) or Google sign-in identifier, and timezone.
- Child profile (parent-supplied): first name (or nickname) and age of each child you add. We recommend using a nickname. We do not request birthdays, addresses, photos, contact information, or other identifying information about children.
- Billing information: handled by Stripe. We receive subscription status, plan, and a customer reference; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Story and delivery data: generated story text, send timestamps, delivery status, and unsubscribe events.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request paths) used to operate and secure the Service.
How we use information
- To generate nightly bedtime stories tailored to the child’s name and age.
- To deliver those stories by email to the parent at the configured local time.
- To process subscriptions and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To send essential service messages (welcome, billing, account, unsubscribe).
- To improve the Service and troubleshoot issues.
Service providers we use
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and application hosting.
- DeepSeek — large-language-model provider used to generate story text from a structured prompt that includes only the child’s first name and age.
- Email delivery — transactional email is sent through our verified sender domain (nightnighthero.com).
- Google — optional sign-in.
These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms. We do not sell personal information and we do not use child data to train AI models.
Retention
Account and child-profile information is retained while your account is active. Generated stories are retained so you can re-read them in your library. You may delete a child or your entire account at any time, after which we delete or de-identify the associated profile and story data within 30 days, subject to backups and legal record-keeping (billing records are retained as required by law).
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from nightly emails using the link at the bottom of any email.
- Edit or remove a child profile from your dashboard.
- Cancel your subscription at any time from the billing portal.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your data by emailing lancedmcginnis@gmail.com.
Children’s privacy (COPPA)
Night, Night Hero is a parent-facing product. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. The limited child information we receive is provided by a parent or guardian for the sole purpose of personalizing a bedtime story delivered to that parent. See our Children’s Safety page for more.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted database storage at our hosting provider, scoped access controls, and row-level security on application data. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, email us immediately.
International users
The Service is operated from the United States. By using it, you understand your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice. The “Effective” date above reflects the most recent revision.
